Making a New Year's resolution is almost always a formula for failure! Instead, why not choose a word or a phrase as a guiding principle for the year. I pick a word that is actionable in the moment, as opposed to conceptual. Awareness, for instance, demands change in some way by merely saying it. You could declare "I am going to lose twenty pounds!" or every time you lift a fork you could say awareness. There is much more power in using a guiding principle than in making a hollow resolution. Some good examples are: courage, yes, forgive, win, ease, love. Pick your toughest issue and see what word speaks to you.
